19 October 2008 - Portugal Masters, Victoria Course, Vilamoura

After the bitter disappointment of crashing out of the Dunhill Links Championship, David was determined to have a good finish to the season, this tournament being the final one on the 2008 schedule. 22 birdies over the four rounds and 4 under for the tough par threes indicates how well David was striking the ball this week. A tie for 30th place was a respectable finish on -6, albeit for a couple of poor breaks in the rough could have been significantly better.

A Message to all my friends and supporters

The support of all of you guys at home and at tournaments is massively appreciated. Knowing that you are all willing  me on to greater and better things is a huge boost for me and I cannot thank you all enough. Please keep watching and cheering me on and rest assured that every single shot that I play gets 110% of my focus and attention, I want to win again - as much for you as I do myself! Thank you again.

28 September 2008 - The Quinn Direct British Masters, The Belfry

Back in the UK at arguably one of the best venues for championship golf in England, the famous Brabazon Course at The Belfry. A strong contigent of supporters from Enmore Park had travelled up to watch the opening days play. Round one was an extremely controlled and professional 18 holes, some superb driving and ironplay, hitting the flagstick on his final hole and coming to rest 30 feet away off the green was real bad luck at the end of the round, however an opening 69 was a great start. A fog delayed round two eventually got underway some 3 hours late, having been up ready for an early start this could have been a difficult round to get underway. Quite the contrary, David proceeded to literally carry on where he left off, knocking out the sticks on holes 1, 2 and 3 - moving to -6 and straight to the top of the leaderboard. A rollercoaster round followed and eventually ended with a very respectable 72 and a tie for 10th spot on -3 going in to the weekend. Another fog delay on Saturday led to a 4pm start and the prospect of finishing the round on Sunday, playing well through the 13 holes played and finishing with a disappointing bogie in bad light on the 4th green, dropping to -2 overnight. An early start Sunday and three shots dropped in the final five holes saw David at +1 going in to the final round. A great performance later on Sunday, with some crucual par putts made, but the birdie putts refusing to drop and David finished on +1 and a tie for 30th place. Another good weekend with much to take from it.

14 September 2008 - The Mercedes Benz Championship

What a great tournament this one is. Reserved for tournament winners and the top 50 players in the world, this was an exceptional field. Outside of the Open Championship, the toughest field of David's career. Therefore the brilliant performance put in over the four rounds here in Germany ended with a tie for 11th spot, a boost to the Order of Merit position and a significant leap in the World Golf Rankings. A pre tournament bonus for David was a rather awesome few laps with Mika Hakkinen

July and August 2008

Following the success of St Omer, the following few tournaments proved to be very trying for David. A good opening two rounds at The Scottish Open, Loch Lomond, saw David make the weekend for the first time since St Omer. Fortunes turned however with a valiant final round at the Johnnie Walker Championship, an renewed ambition and focus, a missed cut by one shot, however many positives came from that final 18 holes.

15 June 2008 Open de St Omer

The one we have all been waiting for. With an opening round of 77 in tough conditions, lifting the trophy on Sunday was not really at the forefront of David's mind. Making the cut was to require a gutsy performance, so a fantastic second day 67 took David from the wrong end of the leaderboard to tied 18th going in to the weekend. Come Saturday and another solid round of 69 and now just 4 shots back going in to Sunday. Off to a very steady start with 6 pars to open and then the fireworks started, with a run of 4 consecutive birdies David leapt in to a share of the lead on -4. Knowing he was now at the top of the leaderboard David made a fantastic play on the par 5 14th hitting a huge drive and a punched 3 wood in to 20 feet. Having seen an updated leaderboard David realised he was already one clear with two putts to go two ahead. Holding it together well with four pars to close on a total of -5. Then the agony of waiting to see if Christian Nillson would birdie the last to force a play off. Fortunately for David the result went his way and he heard those words "Congratulations you are a winner". Although the cheer was probably nowhere near as loud as the one at Enmore Park Golf Club when the final scores updated on the European Tour website!

8 June 2008 Bank Austria Golf Open

David got off to a good start on Thursday with an opening round of 70 for one under par. With a similar performance required on Friday to make the cut it was a positive start after a run of disapponting results. However come Friday and starting on the tenth, a good start to round was not continued and it was to be another weekend off.

30 May 2008 The Celtic Manor Wales Open

A week of great expectation for everyone being the local tournament for David, his friends and supporters. An opening round of 76 was no indicator of how well David played tee to green, however when the putts just don't seem to drop, the resolve must remain focused and positive. Day two and a similar story from tee to green, with some particularly awesome driving. Much sharper on the greens today, but needing a 65 to make the weekend was always going to be a tall order. A mid round eagle on the second, the only one of the opening two days, being the highlight of the round. Looking forward to the challenge of Austria next week.

21 May 2008 Swing Design Trouser Deal

Further to a meeting with local bespoke golf trouser company, Swing Design Ltd, David will now be wearing the brand through the 2008 season. David is delighted to be supporting a great local business through wearing the clothing on tour and hopes that the resultant exposure will be beneficial to Stuart and everyone at Swing Design Ltd. Check out the great designs at www.swingdesign.co.uk.

18 May 2008 The Irish Open

Starting on the tougher outward nine and missing a couple of crucial fairways David was penalised by the heavy rough. Getting in to the groove mid round with some great ball striking, the shots were not rewarded with converted putts. On to Friday and every indication was that the cut would fall at +4, David had his work cut out to pull one out of the bag. Tee to green David was excellent and created many opportunities for birdie. In the end it all came down to the last, the monsterous 631 yard par 5 ninth hole, standing at -2  for the day and the mark now at +3 David needed eagle to make it to the weekend. From the fairway David's approach came up 20 yards short of the green and he now needed to hole his third. Unfortunately the pitch from the rough flew a bit and the resultant par would test the patience for a further week, however it was an extremely brave performance.

11 May 2008 Methorios Capital Italian Open

An opening round of 71 should really have been a 66 aside of a couple or unforced errors and perhaps a bit of over confidence. In to Friday and a great start saw an outward nine of -3 and sitting just inside the mark for the weekend on -4. However frustration set in on the greens and a succession of dropped shots followed on the back nine. Ending the tournament on +2 was no reflection on some great play from tee to green.

4 May 2008 Open de Espana

Again the gap in regular tournament play took its toll on the first round with a rather disappointing opening 74. Thick rough and some tough pins combined to work against David in the first round. Day two and an altogether different story, David quickly got in to gear and got to -5 on the day, until a stroke of misfortune on 14 saw a horrid bounce off the back of the green leave David with a difficult recovery, the rest is history. Finishing with a 70 and missing the cut by one stroke was extremely tough to bear, however Nick quickly put the disappointment in to perspective, commenting how well David was playing and that it will not be long before the reults start coming. Bring on next week and the Italian Open.

24 April 2008 Cornish festival

The three day PGA West Region event saw the debut for Nick MIlls, Woodspring Golf Club, as David's newly appointed caddy. And what a start it was, winning the three days with a record score of -11, 9 shots clear of the field  and shooting a 64 on the final day. Nick made some tough calls during the week and proved his worth on several occassions, well done Nick, we look forward to your valuable contribution to the team.

6 April 2008 Estoril Open de Portugal

What a difference a few days can make and quite clearly the gap in tournament play prior to Madeira has proved to be the decisive factor. Right from the off in Portugal David set out his plans for the week with an opening round of 68 and added a similar round on Friday to make the cut in style on -6. In to the weekend and a rather frustrating round on Saturday saw David play some the best iron shots ever to end the day with a 70, which should have been a 65. In to Sunday and another day of superd iron play, David got to -10 well within reach of a top 5 finish, however again this was a story of putts just not dropping on the weekend. In the end a tied 24th finish was a pleasing result, but was perhaps a case of one that got away. There will be many more opportunities to come, watch this space!

30 March 2008 MAPRE Open de Andalucia

After slam dunking his chip shot on the first hole of the tournament to get in to red figures the next 35 holes proved to be a real mixed bag and not the sort of consistent play that David has become accustomed to over the last six months. Another early trip back to the UK and a missed opportunity to put valuable points on the board. Time to regroup and focus on the upcoming trip to Portugal.

23 March 2008 Madeira Islands Open BPI

The hilly Santo de Serra course in Madeira was the first outing on the European Tour for David since the Indonesian Open back in mid February. A very consistent long game over the opening two days was not rewarded as the putts just would not go in. At close of play on Friday David missed the cut by just two shots and headed home early for the first time in 11 tournaments.

9 March 2008 Tusker Kenyan Open (Challenge Tour)

After a great front nine of 32 on day one the next 27 holes were difficult ones for David and in the end he was delighted to keep his run of cuts made (ten in a row now), making in on the mark at +4. A tough round on Saturday left David at the wrong end of the field, however following a regroup a resurgent David shot an admirable 68 on Sunday to improve his closing position by some 17 places and end the tournament on a high, roll on Madeira and a run of three exciting European Tour events.

27 February 2008 Arcos Gardens Training

Three days spent at the fabulous Arcos Gardens in Jerez with the sun on your back, could almost be excused for thinking it was a holiday, but far from it. Under the watchful eye of Kristian, David spent three days working on all aspects of his game. A combination of range work, practise greens and on course competition left David feeling delighted with the improvements he had made in such a short stay. The hospitality at Arcos Gardens was superb and Ashley Northridge (Director of Golf) and his team should be congratulated on the fantastic facilities both on and off the golf course. We will be back soon. Check out www.arcosgardens.com for more information and prices on golf breaks at Arcos Gardens, or have a look at some of the fabulous properties under construction, please mention this website if you do enquire.

17 February 2008 Enjoy Jakarta Astro Indonesian Open

David got off to a good start on the rain drenched Cengkareng course, with two rounds in the sixties and never looked in any danger of missing the cut. On Sunday the tied 66th spot left David feeling rather disapponted with the end result, however some pinpoint iron play and excellent putting on the grainy greens resulted in 16 birdies over the four rounds, another cut made and plenty to build on for the next event. Given the lack of tournament play since December 2007 three cuts made in three 2008 European Tour starts is extremely encouraging and bodes well for when the events come thick and fast.

22 January 2008 - Attachment Deal with Arcos Gardens

David has today signed a one year deal to represent Arcos Gardens in all European Tour Events he plays in on the 2008 schedule. Arcos Gardens is a luxury champioship golf resort in the Cadiz region of Southern Spain that was designed especially for an exclusive lifestyle. It is one of the lowest density luxury residential golf communities in Europe, with hotel, golf spa and therapy centre and highest quality residences built around a championship golf course with onsite equestrian facilities and a sailing club nearby offering an enchanting, peaceful lifestyle in the heart of Andalucia. David has fond memories of Arcos Gardens from November 2007, the scene of a very successful 2nd Stage on the European Tour Qualifying School, where David led during rounds one and two, before finishing in 4th position. David and the team will be visiting Arcos Gardens regularly during 2008 for regular coaching and training sessions.

16 December 2007 South African Airways Open, Pearl Valley Golf Estate, South Africa

Another steady week resulted in another cut made and a T41st finish. We were very pleased with the performance given the very challenging conditions, combined with a tough draw. What a great venue, a typical Nicklaus designed course which tests every element of your golf game. Will look forward to returning in 2008 to improve on this years result.

9 December 2007 Dunhill Championship, Leopard Creek GC, South Africa

What a great start to the 2008 season. A very steady performance over a very tough golf course, closed out with two great birdies on 17 and 18, saw Dave share 6th spot in his first event of the year at Leopard Creek. Stories of Leopards on the fairways and crocodiles in the river didn't distract Dave from the job in hand, although the unusually cool conditions worked in our favour. Well done Dave, we look forward to a great season ahead.
